Why a Graphics Tablet Will Take Your Digital Photos To The Next Level.

There are many different models available, you just have to decide which one is right for you. It really depends on the features that you want, and whether you are using it for work or recreation.

Professional digital artist and Designer would like to share with you some of the TIPs when they are choosing a Graphics Tablet, this will include the price, level of pressure sensitivity, tablet active area,short-cut key, stylus PEN and accessories maintenance cost. Some japan brand tablet cost very high when come into replacement/missing PEN/nib and accessories, for eg. a Japan stylus pen cost up to RM400 to RM700,RM20 per/nib and lately a student bought a japan tablet at RM12xx, charge RM800 when it come to some replacement part.

These very important FEATURES and SPECIFICATION are :

1. SIZE(Active Area) First characteristic is size.

First and foremost characteristic is size. The physical size is not as important as what's known as the active area. The active area is the grid described above. Large grids allow more space between the active points. Smaller grids are easier to navigate because they require less hand movement, but deliver less precision. Think of it this way: if you were asked to draw a circle using only dots, you'd be able to make a smoother circle if you used more dots.

Common sizes for consumer-level graphics tablets are 4x5, 4x6, 6x9 and 8x13 inches. It's important to note that these dimensions refer to the active area only--the physical footprint will in every case be larger. For example, a 4x6 tablet, like the one pictured here (A Hanvon Art Master lll 4x6) has actual dimensions that may be closer to 8x10 inches. Professional tablets that feature on-screen drawing are naturally much larger. This will take up more room on your desk, but many graphics pro's actually work with the tablet on their laps, as they might do when drawing!

2. Stylus PEN pressure sensitivity-2048

The next variable is stylus pressure sensitivity. This refers to the system's sensitivity and response to pressure when the stylus (left) is pressed against the tablet surface. Pressure sensitivity lets you control brushes and other tools by varying the amount of pressure you apply via the stylus.

As you draw, you can control things like line thickness, brush size, opacity, color, and so forth. Think of it as a physical can of spray paint: press the applicator button lightly and only a little comes out; press hard and the flow increases. Most tablets have 512 or 1024 levels of control. and hanvon have the highest 2048 PS in AM lll/GP3M/SenTIP model. Some have fewer. The more levels of sensitivity, the greater the control.

3. Express/Function Key - Fully programmable

Also look at the number and type of function keys that are provided on the stylus. Function keys are programmable buttons that can replicate the effect of holding down the Alt or Ctrl key, produce mouse clicks, zoom, and deliver other keyboard shortcuts.

Obviously, more keys means more functions can be programmed. Function keys are valuable because they improve productivity--your hand does not have to leave the stylus as often.

Express Keys are programmable as function keys, keyboard shortcuts, mouse clicks, launching applications, and pop-up menus. Layout of Programmed Express Keys can be displayed on screen by pressing Key Display Button.

4. Hanvon SenTIP 1201 wd

Another feature worth investigating: screen writing. Writing directly on the screen is the most natural and accurate way to edit an image.

Some graphics tablets are actually touch-sensitive LCD monitors. They are more expensive, but some graphic artists couldn't work without them.

They enable increased productivity and for professionals, that makes them worthwhile. Cordless units allow the user to position the tablet on a desk, in their lap, or any other comfortable position.

This type of tablet makes the most of the artist's natural hand-eye coordination, and significantly reduces the potential for repetitive action fatigue.

5. Maintenance and Nibs Accessories

"Some Japan brand graphics tablets pen nib wore down to a significant flat within a few days"

"the nibs on these can literally be going down and scratching the tablet in hours"

"i bought a japan brands at RM13xx, its cost me RM9xx to fix the wear out usb tablet connection"

***UPDATE*** The complaints about the nib issue on xxcom Europe forum now run into 64 pages long! It's full of frustration from many customers, with xxcom basically ignoring the problem now. This is now over a year and still nothing has been done. This is extremely poor performance and service by xxcom. Again, I suggest customers give this product a wide berth as xxcom obviously have no intention of fixing it nor indeed do they care about the huge amount of poor feedback they are getting about it. Customers come last at xxcom.
